A bilateral agreement between China and the European Union (EU) on geographical indications (GI) took effect on March 1.
The indications are used to identify the geographical origin of a product, and are an important type of intellectual property right.
According to the agreement, more than 500 products, including some from Zhejiang province, such as Shaoxing Yellow Rice Wine, will enjoy commercial protection in the market.
