Shaoxing begins building network for low-altitude economy
Shaoxing's Yuecheng district has begun construction on a district-wide network of 215 takeoff and landing sites to support its emerging low-altitude economy.
The project's first phase, launched on March 27 at the Donghu Lake scenic area and other key locations.
The network will support urban air mobility, tourism, logistics, and industry innovation.
Plans for 2025 include launching China's first commercial manned airship service, opening the nation's largest drone delivery center, and developing integrated land-air-water tourism experiences.
Yuecheng aims to become a national pioneer in low-altitude aviation infrastructure and applications.
Wu Yirong, an academician at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, said the country's low-altitude economy is evolving beyond simply connecting devices or vehicles. It is now entering a new stage focused on achieving "smart airspace control" through technological integration and ecosystem development.
Driving this transformation is the integration of cutting-edge technologies, such as low-altitude cloud computing, 6G networks, and satellite internet, to create the world's first integrated air-space-ground intelligent network, the academician added.
