Shaoxing Paralympic swimmer nominated for Laureus Awards
The 2025 Laureus World Sports Award nominations were announced on March 3, featuring multiple champions from the Paris Olympics and Paralympics.
Among them, Para swimmer Jiang Yuyan from Shaoxing, Zhejiang province, has been nominated for the Laureus World Sportsperson of the Year with a Disability Award, alongside fellow Chinese athlete Qu Zimo.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Laureus Awards, coinciding with the Paris Olympics last year, making it a highly competitive selection.
Jiang Yuyan made history at the Paris Paralympics, clinching seven gold medals while setting two world records and three Paralympic records in swimming. Her outstanding performance has positioned her as a strong contender for the prestigious award.
The 2025 Laureus World Sports Awards Ceremony is scheduled to take place in Madrid on April 21.
