Shaoxing Xiaobaihua Yueju Opera Troupe, in collaboration with Zhejiang Vocational Academy of Art in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, has officially launched a joint enrollment program to train its seventh-generation performers. The initiative aims to nurture new talent and further promote Yueju Opera.

Since enrollment began in late January, more than 300 applications have been received, including some from as far away as North China's Jilin province. This is the first time that the troupe and the academy have cooperated in recruitment, to pass on the opera tradition systematically.

Applications will be accepted until April 17. Candidates will undergo preliminary screening at more than 130 testing centers nationwide before attending professional interviews in Zhejiang during the May Day holiday. The final selection is expected to be completed by mid-May.

Founded in 1986, the Shaoxing Xiaobaihua Yueju Opera Troupe is considered a cultural trademark of Shaoxing. It has successfully trained six generations of performers, including renowned Yueju Opera artists such as Wu Fenghua, Wu Suying, Chen Fei, and Zhang Lin.
