In 2024, China Textile City in Shaoxing's Keqiao district recorded about 401 billion yuan ($54.88 billion) in transactions — a year-on-year growth of 11.09 percent and the first time the market exceeded 400 billion yuan.

As Asia's largest textile hub, China Textile City reflects Keqiao's evolving textile ecosystem, which now encompasses the entire supply chain — from polyester production and spinning to weaving, dyeing, garment manufacturing, and industrial fabrics.

Among the latest developments, Italian designer Alberto Zambelli returned to Keqiao, this time operating from his new workspace at the International Designer Brand Center.

"Our mission is to connect Italian designers and fashion labels with local fabric producers," said the center's director, Xie Hang. "For Zambelli's visit, we pre-curated a selection of local materials tailored to his design requirements for a domestic fashion project."

Keqiao's advanced fabric production capabilities and government support for creative industries have made it a magnet for global designers. "That strong innovation capacity was a key factor in our decision to invest here," Xie noted.

The district is strengthening its creative infrastructure with projects such as the China Textile City Original Design Center and a designer-focused hub, further positioning itself as a dynamic force in the global textile industry.
