Shaoxing hosts 68 schools named after famous figures

Shaoxing is home to 68 schools named after historical luminaries such as Wang Yangming, Lu Xun, and Cai Yuanpei.
On Nov 27, school leaders and education experts gathered to explore how these schools can leverage their unique heritage.
Experts emphasized the importance of drawing on the educational spirit of these historical figures to enhance Shaoxing's reputation as a "land of great minds". Xu Zhilin, vice-president of the Shaoxing Culture Research Society, highlighted the need to build strong campus cultures and improve teacher development by using these figures as role models to inspire students and educators alike.
Participants called for deeper integration of famous figure-based education into school programs, enhancing the distinctive identity of these schools. They proposed promoting the legacy of Shaoxing's notable figures to strengthen cultural heritage and foster a unique educational environment.
