Shaoxing's century-old restaurant reopens

Shaoxing's renowned century-old restaurant, Wangjianglou, officially reopened its doors on Cangqiao Straight Street in Yuecheng district on Oct 25.
Known for its distinctive menu, Wangjianglou has long held a significant place in Shaoxing's culinary scene. News of its reopening at the historical site on Cangqiao Straight Street had generated much anticipation among locals.
According to a representative from Wangjianglou, the restaurant began serving customers at 6:30 am, with patrons including early-morning exercisers, eagerly lining up outside. By around 9 am, people were still queuing to savor the nostalgic flavors.
Many long-time Shaoxing residents share fond memories of enjoying Wangjianglou delicacies in their youth. Meanwhile, young commuters were drawn in by the lively atmosphere.
The restaurant's signature dish, Houkou Mantou, as a kind of meat bun, proved especially popular, alongside a variety of Shaoxing-style breakfast offerings such as soy milk and wontons, catering to diverse tastes.
The reopening of Wangjianglou at its historical site provides Shaoxing residents with a cherished spot to enjoy traditional cuisine, and revitalizes the city's culinary culture.
