The 2024 Zhejiang International Health Care Industry Expo, which opened on Nov 8 in Shaoxing, has exhibited a groundbreaking elderly smart mobility scooter that promises to redefine personal mobility for seniors.

According to the scooter's sales representative Huang Wenfa, "In addition to enhanced seat comfort, the new generation of smart mobility scooters is equipped with navigation and positioning systems."

"Seniors can issue commands via voice or smartphone, and the scooter will safely take them to their destination. This will undoubtedly optimize the way elderly people travel."

Currently, Zhejiang has a registered elderly population of 13.83 million, accounting for 28.18 percent of its total population.

The expo features nearly 100 local Zhejiang elderly care enterprises, resulting in numerous collaborations in areas such as smart elderly care, home and community services, elderly-friendly renovations, elderly care travel, and smart services.

A representative from the Zhejiang Civil Affairs Bureau stated that Zhejiang will continue to enhance funding, services, and institutional support to develop a "happiness at your doorstep" model for elderly care.
