The 9th World Cup Woodball Championship opened in Shangyu district, Shaoxing, on Oct 15, bringing together nearly 300 participants from 12 countries and regions, including Singapore, South Korea, India, Malaysia, and Mongolia.
Running from Oct 14 to 18, the tournament features both stroke and fairway events, with competitions in team, individual, and doubles categories. Following the 2023 Asian Woodball Championship, this World Cup represents the highest level of international woodball competition in terms of skill, participation, and global attention.
Shangyu has been focusing on building a "City of Youth" and advancing high-quality, sustainable development in sports. Enhanced sports infrastructure, widespread community fitness initiatives, and achievements in competitive sports have turned athletics into a lifestyle choice and a cultural hallmark.
This World Cup, the highest-level sports event Shangyu has ever hosted, is also the district’s second international A-level woodball event following the 2023 Asian Cup.
