Shaoxing opens first large aquarium
The "East Zhejiang Freshwater Fish Aquarium" in Yuecheng district, Shaoxing, opened its doors to the public on Aug 20.
This is Shaoxing's first large aquarium dedicated mainly to freshwater fish, with additional exhibits featuring freshwater amphibians.
Located in the East Zhejiang East Canal Museum, the aquarium spans a total building area of 10,000 square meters, with 5,828 square meters dedicated to exhibition and interactive experiences.
The aquarium is divided into three floors. The first floor showcases large and medium-sized freshwater fish native to East Zhejiang, along with popular international species. The second floor focuses on small native fish, crustaceans, mollusks, and amphibians and reptiles. The third floor is designed as a centralized science education area, incorporating all the educational elements of the venue.
