Shaoxing's Keqiao: Jianhu Lake and Anchang ancient town
Jianhu Lake Resort, located in Keqiao district, Shaoxing, Zhejiang province, combines the picturesque scenery of Kuaiji's Mountain and Jianhu Lake, enriched with the historical culture of Tang Dynasty (618-907) poetry and the aroma of yellow rice wine.
Librairie Avant Gafde, a bookstore at the resort, has hosted a series of cultural events since its opening in March, transforming a former water plant intake into an immersive reading space for visitors. Poet Yu Xiuhua will soon bring her new poetry collection to the bookstore for an in-depth discussion with readers.
Another must-visit is Anchang ancient town. As a commercial hub since the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911), the town boasts well-preserved ancient architecture and traditional customs. Its street, spanning 1,747 meters, is the longest commercial pedestrian street among ancient towns in the Yangtze River Delta.
