The World Journey of Shaoxing Huangjiu event commenced as the Gu Yue Long Shan brand, a part of the China Shaoxing Yellow Rice Wine Group Co, hosted the "Zhi Ci Qing Yu" tasting event on Regent Street, London, on Dec 7.
More than 50 esteemed guests, including Marie Cheong Thong, a member of the International Wine & Spirit Competition Spirits Judging Committee, and wine and sparkling wine expert Neil Phillips, attended the grand tasting event.
This marks a historic moment for the Huangjiu (yellow rice wine) industry in Shaoxing, as it held its first large-scale tasting event in the United Kingdom.
The connection between Shaoxing yellow rice wine and the United Kingdom dates back to 1915 when the wine was awarded gold and silver medals at the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco, making its products widely exported to regions including London, New York, Tokyo, the Philippines, and Singapore.

At this year's International Wine & Spirit Competition in London, Gu Yue Long Shan claimed four out of six gold awards in the yellow rice wine category, with "Zhi Ci Qing Yu" taking the top spot and securing the only trophy in the competition.
In the words of the IWSC evaluation, "Fresh, vibrant, and balanced with caramel, bitter gourd, almond, marmalade, dried fruits, and creamy notes. This is a finely knitted example with great freshness and integration. The finish is expressive, mellow and smooth with some rancio notes."
Through the on-site tasting, Gu Yue Long Shan showcased the unique flavors of yellow rice wine to British guests, creating a delectable bridge for cultural exchange between the East and the West.
