With 30 days remaining until the Hangzhou Asian Games, the "Shanghai Explores Shaoxing" cultural and tourism promotion event, along with the launch ceremony of the Shaoxing Cultural and Tourism Expo, took place in Shanghai on Aug 24.
The event featured specialized promotions that delved deep into Shaoxing's unique cultural and tourism attractions in six dimensions: mountains, waters, products, people, culture, and city.
Within the exhibition area, a total of 30 long-standing establishments and heritage product booths were set up, with over 40 participating businesses. Through physical displays and on-site experiences, the exhibition showcased the unique allure of Shaoxing craftsmanship.
The 19th Asian Games will be hosted in Hangzhou in September. Shaoxing, as the co-host city with the most related events, is set to host basketball, volleyball, baseball, softball, and sport climbing competitions.
"The Asian Games are not just a grand sporting event but also a celebration of cultural exchange and development," said Hu Hualiang, director of the Shaoxing municipal bureau of culture, radio, television, and tourism.
By combining the games with the cultural and tourism industries, Shaoxing is striving to make great strides in the integration of culture, commerce, sports, and tourism, according to Hu.
He also said that Shaoxing is determined to "enhance the city through a successful event" and will utilize the "Asian Games" platform to showcase the city's rich historical and cultural heritage, as well as its picturesque landscapes.
