Shaoxing's GDP growth ranks second in Zhejiang in H1

The GDP of Shaoxing in the first half of 2023 was 362.2 billion yuan ($50.68 billion), a 7.9 percent year-on-year increase, local media reported on July 29.

Shaoxing's GDP growth ranked second in Zhejiang province, surpassing both the national growth rate of 5.5 percent and the provincial growth rate of 6.8 percent.

During the first half of this year, Shaoxing's primary industry added value reached 10.7 billion yuan, growing by 3.8 percent; the secondary industry reached 171.2 billion yuan, a growth rate of 6.8 percent; and the tertiary industry reached 180.3 billion yuan, an impressive 9.2 percent growth.

During the May Day holiday, the city welcomed 4.05 million tourists over the course of five days, a remarkable 155.37 percent year-on-year increase and generating 3.47 billion yuan in tourism revenue.

In the first half of the year, Shaoxing's total retail sales of consumer goods reached 135.5 billion yuan, growing by 11.0 percent year-on-year, ranking first in the province in terms of growth rate.

During the same period, Shaoxing’s imports and exports were valued at 200.84 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 18.7 percent and marking the first time that the city's foreign trade exceeded 200 billion yuan in half a year. The city's exports amounted to 184.19 billion yuan, a growth of 18.2 percent, topping the province in terms of growth rate.
