Shaoxing's foreign trade value up 1.1% in Jan-Feb
The value of imports and exports in Shaoxing in Zhejiang province increased 1.1 percent year-on-year to hit 53.04 billion yuan ($7.7 billion) in the Jan-Feb period, Shaoxing Customs announced on March 29.
The value accounted for 7.7 percent of the total imports and exports of the province.
During the period, export value totaled 48.46 billion yuan, down 0.5 percent year on year, while import value grew 22.2 percent to 4.58 billion yuan.
Shaoxing's exports of mechanical and electrical products and high-tech products during this period were valued at 10.27 billion yuan and 1.43 billion yuan respectively, up 8.3 percent and 23.4 percent, accounting for 21.2 percent and 3 percent of the city's total exports.
Shaoxing imported high-tech products worth 1.51 billion yuan, up 65.3 percent, as well as 19,000 metric tons of unwrought copper and copper materials worth 1.16 billion yuan, up 2.1 times and 2.0 times year-on-year respectively.
During the same period, 8,257 private enterprises in Shaoxing contributed to an import and export volume worth 46.98 billion yuan, up 1.9 percent year-on-year.
