Zhuji pearl companies seek cooperation in Hong Kong
Representatives of more than 300 pearl companies from Zhuji, a county-level city in Shaoxing, took a chartered flight to Hong Kong on March 1 to participate in the 39th Hong Kong International Jewellery Show.
This year's international jewellery show attracted more than 2,300 companies from 34 countries and regions, and over 100 buyer groups from 70 countries and regions.
Wang Zhijie, the head of Zhuji Xinma Jewellery Co, said his company brought five boxes of Baroque-shaped pearls weighing over 100 kilograms to the show.
"On the first day, there was a constant stream of customers coming to inquire and place orders after viewing the samples," he said.
This is the first time that Zhuji pearl companies have organized a trip abroad to participate in an exhibition.
"Through government support, pearl companies have been united to promote Zhuji pearls," said He Tieyuan, secretary-general of the Zhejiang Pearl Industry Association.
