The Guixing rescue team from Zhuji, Zhejiang province successfully rescued a 10-year-old girl who had been buried under rubble for almost a week following an earthquake in Kahramanmaras, southeastern Turkiye, on Feb 14.

The team worked tirelessly and conducted a joint rescue mission with other rescue teams as conditions at the site were difficult. The team from Zhuji was responsible for on-site command, and their collaboration with other teams played a pivotal role in the successful rescue of the young girl.

According to the team, the young girl had been buried for nearly 178 hours before the team was able to locate and rescue her. The rescue was particularly challenging, given that the girl was buried 5 meters deep in the rubble.

The team deployed life detectors, which detected signs of life and breathing from under the rubble, giving the team the hope they needed to continue their rescue efforts. It took the team ten and a half hours to rescue the young girl, and she was immediately handed over to local emergency services for medical attention.

The Guixing rescue team was the first rescue force from Shaoxing to support Turkiye, and over a period of three days, the team worked tirelessly to save lives in the disaster-hit region. In addition to rescuing the young girl, the team also discovered 30 dead bodies, further highlighting their exceptional abilities and dedication to saving lives.
