The statistics also showed that the growth of the per capita disposable income of residents in the city's rural areas was faster than that in urban areas, further narrowing the wealth gap.
According to local media outlets, Shaoxing rolled out a series of measures to boost the development of its agricultural, tourism and e-commerce sectors in rural areas last year, contributing to the growth in average disposable income.
The per capita consumption expenditure of Shaoxing residents in 2022 amounted to 40,371 yuan, a year-on-year growth of 7.8 percent.
In addition, official data revealed that local residents spent most on transportation and communication than on other areas, such as health care and education, with expenditures in the two categories hitting 6,334 yuan, a year-on-year growth of 9.6 percent.
