Ancient Town of Anchang holds first sauce food contest

The Ancient Town of Anchang in Shaoxing, East China's Zhejiang province, held the 2022 twelfth lunar month soy sauce unveiling ceremony and its first traditional sauce food contest on Dec 23.

Representatives from more than 20 well-known local sauce firms and workshops attended the event, witnessing the unsealing of a vat of new soy sauce, which is brewed using traditional saucing techniques.

A sauce food contest was also held, where many firms showcased their delicacies and welcomed visitors to try them.

A panel of judges was invited to evaluate the taste and quality of the entries and pick the winners.

During the activity, five experts were appointed as councilors for the development of the sauce food sector of Anchang.

The Ancient Town of Anchang, which has a long history of making sauce food, is now home to many firms in the sector.
