The Shaoxing Trading Delegation, which consists of 1,058 companies and 2,273 representatives, participated in the fifth China International Import Expo (CIIE), which is being held at Shanghai's National Exhibition and Convention Center from Nov 5 to 10.

The delegation aims to promote Shaoxing's business environment by attending various activities such as purchasing meetings, economic and trade talks, and contract signings at this year's CIIE.

Over half of the world's top 500 companies and industrial leading enterprises participate in the exhibition, and a total of 145 countries, regions and international organizations are taking part in the event.

According to statistics from the municipal commerce bureau of Shaoxing, as of Nov 7 Shaoxing companies' intended purchase amount had reached $115.6 million.

The first deal was made by Xinchang Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, which intends to purchase medical equipment worth $124,000. The biggest deal came from Zhejiang Hailiang Group, which intends to purchase electrolytic copper worth nearly $500 million.

An authority at the municipal commerce bureau said that the city's buyers are expected to help upgrade local products, enhance Shaoxing's opening up, and play a bigger role in the country's "domestic and international dual circulation".

In the meantime, Shaoxing's seven cultural heritage items, including Shaoxing yellow rice wine, Yue embroidery products, and Zhuji brown weaving, are being exhibited to CIIE visitors from home and abroad.
