Shaoxing shows decade of development

Shaoxing, East China's Zhejiang province, has made remarkable progress since the 18th CPC National Congress in 2012, local authorities said at a news conference on Aug 29.
Over the past decade, the city's GDP increased from 362 billion yuan ($52.43 billion) in 2012 to an estimated amount of 700 billion yuan in 2022.
The per capita GDP of urban and rural residents increased from 37,000 yuan and 18,000 yuan in 2012 to 73,000 yuan and 43,000 yuan in 2021.
While optimizing traditional industries including yellow rice wine, sauced vegetable and meat, and textile, the city developed emerging industries including integrated circuits, medicine, and batteries for electric vehicles.
In the same period, the city's urban area expanded from 286 square kilometers to 380 sq km. The urbanization rate rose from 60.3 percent to 71.5 percent.
