Five foreign live streamers were invited by the local commerce bureau in Zhuji, Shaoxing, East China's Zhejiang province to sell pearls to overseas buyers on May 25.

The bureau said a growing number of foreigners in Shaoxing are getting involved in the cross-border livestreaming industry.

In 2019, Shaoxing received approval from the State Council to set up the national cross-border e-commerce comprehensive bonded zone.

In 2021, Shaoxing's cross-border e-commerce exports totaled 11.86 billion yuan ($1.78 billion), up by 20.64 percent.

As of mid-February this year, the city had nearly 4,000 cross-border e-commerce companies and 48 overseas warehouses.

Officials with the Shaoxing commerce bureau said that Shaoxing is working to accelerate the growth of cross-border e-commerce, which is seen as a trading mode with enormous potential in China.
