Shaoxing High-tech Industrial Development Zone
Shaoxing High-tech Industrial Development Zone is located in Yuecheng district, Shaoxing, Zhejiang province. It was established in August 1992 as the Shaoxing Economic Development Zone, and upgraded to a national high-tech industrial development zone by the State Council in November 2010.
Its leading industries include electronic information, and life and health. With the breakthrough of integrated circuits, the electronic information industry has gathered a number of enterprises related to design, manufacturing, packaging and testing of semiconductors, such as SMIC (Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation), Zhejiang BOE, Hangxin Technology, and Opus Optoelectronics. The life and health industry mainly covers the fields of medical materials, wearable devices, and large medical equipment.
In 2016, the development zone achieved total industrial output value of 15.54 billion yuan ($2.18 billion), a year-on-year increase of 1.5 percent. The output value of its high-tech industries was 4.77 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.7 percent, and the output value of emerging industries totaled 4.51 billion yuan. The service industry attracted investment of 7.56 billion yuan.
By the end of 2016, the development zone had two national science and technology innovation enterprise incubators, one municipal incubator, 38 national high-tech enterprises, 180 provincial science and technology small and medium-sized enterprises, one provincial academician workstation, five municipal academician workstations, five provincial enterprise research institutes (including two provincial key enterprise research institutes), 20 provincial high-tech enterprise research and development centers, and 55 municipal R&D centers.
