Shaoxing holds poetry festival commemorating great poet

The first Lu You Poetry Festival opened at Houshan Scenic Area in Yuecheng district, Shaoxing, East China's Zhejiang province on Nov 13.
Shaoxing is the hometown of Lu You, who was a well-known Chinese poet that lived during the Song Dynasty (960-1279), and the event partly strived to commemorate the great patriotic poet.
The festival included a series of activities, such as a poetry competition and a forum on traditional Chinese culture.
The event was also attended by Chen Geng, the champion of the Chinese Poetry Competition, a TV show hosted by China Central Television.

Chen expressed hope that participants would make use of the occasion to learn about the stories of the great poet, explore the essence of his poems, and admire his great personality.
During the festival, the scenic area set up many scenarios stimulating the lifestyles of the Song Dynasty, giving visitors an immersive experience.
Revolving around Lu You culture, Yuecheng will build a number of landmarks as a way to remember Lu, said Sheng Yu, director of publicity of Yuecheng district.
