The Douyin Shaoxing livestreaming show took place in Yuecheng district, Shaoxing, Zhejiang province on Oct 1. Douyin is a short-video platform known in the West as TikTok.

"This year marks the 140th anniversary of the birth of Lu Xun, who is widely considered to be the leading figure of modern Chinese literature," said an official at the municipal publicity department. "We wanted to promote his legacy with popular short videos."

"We are expecting that the combination of traditional arts and new media can introduce our city to people of different ages," he added.
