Shaoxing sees robust growth in digital economy

In the first half of 2021, the 123 integrated circuit companies in Shaoxing, Zhejiang province generated an industrial output of 20.9 billion yuan ($3.22 billion), up 93 percent year-on-year.
In December 2017, the government of Zhejiang proposed that the digital economy should be regarded as a priority. Since then, the government of Shaoxing has been making efforts to support the sector, especially the integrated circuit sector.
According to the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Zhejiang Provincial People's Government, digital economy is "a new form of economy which uses data resources as the key production factor and modern information network as the main carrier."
According to a provincial report on the digital economy in 2020, Shaoxing received a score of 98 points, ranking second among all cities in Zhejiang.
Local authorities said that they will help promote the digital transformation of the manufacturing industry and utilize digital technology to empower more small- and medium-sized companies.
