Shaoxing in East China's Zhejiang province and Peking University will deepen cooperation in talent cultivation, according to an agreement signed at an education summit in Shaoxing on July 17.

The two parties also called on universities in East Asia to increase education exchanges and cultivate "modern citizens with a complete personality".

The new agreement is a continuation of their first cooperation deal in 2019.

Peking University has had four Shaoxing-born presidents, including prominent educator and revolutionist Cai Yuanpei (1868-1940), and famed Shaoxing-born lecturers like Lu Xun, the most recognizable face of 20th century Chinese literature, and Qian Sanqiang, who is dubbed "the father of China's atom bomb".
