Shangyu district lists 5G development as this year's key focus

Shangyu district in Shaoxing prioritized 5G technology development and digital technology-based industrial transformation in this year's growth plan.

The district has long played a leading role in its digital economy strength among Shaoxing's districts. So far, Shangyu has 61 companies with digital economic operations at their core, and four listed digital economy companies, ranking top among Shaoxing's districts.

Last year, the manufacturing industrial added value of the district's core digital economy sectors hit 3.77 billion yuan ($584 million), a year-on-year growth of 17.8 percent.

The Robotics (Hangzhou Bay) International Innovation Institute, which is affiliated with the Yangtze River Delta Center (Hangzhou Bay) Sci-Tech City of Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) Robot Group, in Shangyu has been an active participant in digital technology-based industrial transformation projects.

Pan Rudong, president of the Robotics (Hangzhou Bay) International Innovation Institute, said that they have been kept busy in conducting digital transformation projects to help improve the digitalization of companies.

In October 2020, the Yangtze River Delta Center (Hangzhou Bay) Sci-Tech City of HIT Robot Group, a project receiving 10.18 billion yuan in investment, was signed to operate in Shangyu Economy and Technology Development Zone.

The project included the Robotics (Hangzhou Bay) International Innovation Institute, the Robotic Industry Exhibition Center and the Robot Intelligent Equipment Industrial Park.

Officials from the government of Shangyu said that the district will extend 5G signals coverage to rural areas and apply 5G technology to more industrial areas this year.
