The 2020 Shanghai Shaoxing Week was held in Shanghai from Dec 18 to 20.
The event consists of a keynote conference, a tour of Shanghai, an exhibition on Shaoxing culture, and seven matchmaking activities meant to facilitate Shanghai-Shaoxing cooperation.
During the event, Shaoxing enterprises offered around 500 jobs for high-end Shanghai talent from some of the most prestigious universities in Shanghai, including Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Tongji University.
Agreements for 12 projects were signed at the keynote conference on Dec 19 to promote cooperation between the finance, commerce, and culture and tourism industries of Shanghai and Shaoxing.
Shanghai Shaoxing Week was first launched in 2019 and the 2020 edition of the event marks the beginning of a new chapter in cooperation between the two cities.
Official statistics show that Shaoxing's GDP in 2020 is expected to surpass 600 billion yuan ($91.62 billion) thanks to the strong performance of the city's integrated circuit (IC), biomedicine, and macro-molecule material industries.
Wang Xiaofan, vice-principal of Shanghai University, said that Shaoxing's emerging manufacturing and IC industries make it an ideal destination for innovators and entrepreneurs. He encouraged his students to visit Shaoxing and seek out opportunities.
