The 2020 Shaoxing Development Conference, which opened in Shaoxing, Zhejiang province on Nov 14, outlined the ancient city's development blueprint for the next five years.
A main venue in the Shaoxing Grand Theatre seated over 600 distinguished attendants from home and abroad and sub-venues were set up in Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen. They witnessed the signing of 14 projects worth 100 billion yuan ($15.19 billion).
These projects, including a strategic cooperation agreement between the municipal government and Zhejiang University, were launched to develop the city's manufacturing, biomedicine, and culture and tourism industries.

Ren Shaobo, Party secretary of Zhejiang University (ZJU), was born in the city. He said an increasing number of ZJU-related enterprises are opening headquarters in Shaoxing as the city's unique resources and cultural heritages can shed light on ZJU's academic research and technological innovation.
Sun Hongbin, chairman of Sunac China Holdings Ltd, called himself a "native" of Shaoxing during the conference. "I like the city for its mountains and waters, for its history and culture, and most importantly for its development potential," he said.
Sunac China and Shaoxing will build a huangjiu (yellow rice wine) town in Yuecheng district and a future city in Keqiao district. The huangjiu town was signed in April and the future city was among the 14 projects on Nov 14. "Our projects will inject new impetus to Shaoxing's high quality development," said Sun.
