Zhou Enlai

Zhou Enlai (1898-1976) was a famous Chinese proletarian revolutionary, politician, strategist and diplomat as well as a major leader of the Communist Party of China and the People's Republic of China, and one of the founders of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. Zhou's ancestral home was Shaoxing in East China's Zhejiang province.
Zhou Enlai was educated in Japan and Europe. By comparing different ideas and concepts in different countries, he decided to dedicate his life to communism, which he thought suited the conditions in China.
After the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, Zhou served as premier and foreign minister of the government, vice-chairman of the Military Commission of the Central Committee of the CPC, and vice-chairman and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
