Construction started on a high-speed railway city complex in Shengzhou, a county-level city in Shaoxing, East China's Zhejiang province, on March 29.
The project, mainly funded, developed and constructed by China Railway 18th Bureau Group, is the largest high-speed railway city complex in East China. The Hangzhou-Shaoxing-Taizhou high-speed railway, which is under construction in Shengzhou, and the railways connecting Ningbo, Yiwu and Jinhua will meet in Shengzhou.
According to the local media, the project includes a transport network, supporting municipal infrastructure, a digital economy industrial park, a smart community and other sub-projects with total investment of 18.6 billion yuan ($2.62 billion).
The project is of great significance for Shengzhou's integration into the development of the Yangtze River Delta.
