People cook Gao Gan Pi on the 15th day of the seventh lunar month in many areas of Wenling. Gao Gan Pi is made of rice flour. Mix it with water proportionally and knead it into small pieces, then mix with sugar after sifting the powder and steam it in a steamer. Before steaming, a knife or ruler is usually used to cut it into pieces. Gao Gan Pi just out of the boiler is soft and sweet. If it is put aside for a few days, it will still be edible but sweeter and a bit dry and hard.

Eat cowpea paste
Cowpea paste is a specialty snack of Wenling. It is made of cooked cowpeas and starch, and sometimes red dates, peanuts, water chestnuts and sesame are added. It looks like jelly out of the pot and is a necessity for Zhongyuan Festival.
