Jiaxing is set to fast-track its transportation infrastructure in 2025 following a record-breaking year in investment and growth, Tide News reported on March 25.

The city's annual transportation conference outlined key initiatives, building on the 43.7 billion yuan ($6.02 billion) invested in 2024, marking the second consecutive year surpassing 40 billion yuan.

Jiaxing's logistics sector surged, with road freight and passenger transport turnover rising 13.1 percent. Jiaxing Port handled over 3.7 million TEUs, an 8.8 percent increase, pushing its global container port ranking to 60th.

Public transportation also saw major improvements, including the launch of six tourist bus routes serving historic water towns and three seasonal botanical garden routes.

Jiaxing further distinguished itself by becoming the first city in China to offer full mobile EV charging coverage across its highway service areas.

As Jiaxing enters its "takeoff year" in 2025, the much-anticipated "Jiaxing Nanhu Airport" is set for completion in June, trial flights in July, and official operations by December.

The city is also pioneering drone-based logistics, with plans to open 10 cargo drone routes, facilitating rapid deliveries to Shanghai, Suzhou, Hangzhou, and Shaoxing.

To enhance urban mobility, Jiaxing will continue upgrading its public transport network while launching a citywide initiative to improve taxi service quality.
