Yang Xubiao, a member of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, proposed accelerating construction on the Ningbo-Taizhou-Wenzhou-Fuzhou high-speed railway in order to open it up to traffic by 2025.
Yang made the remarks in his proposal to the CPPCC national committee while attending the annual session of the nation's top political advisory body in Beijing.
The railway, with a designed speed of 350 km/h, spans roughly 580 kilometers and plays a key role in the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
The railway has been included in the medium and long-term railway network plan laid out by the State Council.
According to Yang, the railway will reduce the time required for cross-regional economic and social activities and meet demands in the movement of people, logistics, capital and information among southeast coastal areas of China, including the Yangtze River Delta region, Western Taiwan Strait Economic Zone and the Pearl River Delta.
