A delegation from La Palma Island in Spain explored the development of Sanmao culture in Dinghai district, Zhoushan, on Nov 26, delving deeper into the island charm.
On Nov 25, La Palma and Zhoushan officially signed an agreement to become friendly exchange cities. Both parties will engage in friendly cooperation and exchanges in areas such as tourism for islands, Sanmao culture, the Silk Road, and personnel exchanges on the basis of equality and mutual benefit to promote prosperity for both sides.
La Palma is known for its rich natural resources and picturesque scenery, with tourism as its main industry. Sanmao, a renowned Taiwan writer who hails from Dinghai, once resided on La Palma Island, referring to it as one of the "seven diamonds in the Atlantic". The island features elements of Chinese culture such as the Sanmao Cultural Center.
Last year, Dinghai and La Palma unveiled the Sanmao footprints boutique tourism route spanning these two places, and set up paired Sanmao cultural tourism exchange centers.
"Through the establishment of a friendly exchange city relationship, both sides will fully utilize the role of the Sanmao cultural tourism exchange center between Dinghai and La Palma to promote cooperation and exchanges," said an official from the foreign affairs office of Zhoushan.
