The vessel MSC Eleni docked at a container terminal in the Chuanshan port area of Ningbo Zhoushan Port on Sept 1, marking the launch of a new container shipping route from Ningbo Zhoushan Port.

The vessel is set to transport machinery, electronic products, textiles, and raw materials, totaling 2,150 twenty-foot equivalent units and approximately 25,000 metric tons, to ports in Australia such as Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane, as well as Auckland in New Zealand.

The new route, named the Wallaby route, is the second route from Ningbo Zhoushan Port to Australia operated by Mediterranean Shipping Company.

This addition brings the total number of container shipping routes in Ningbo Zhoushan Port to over 300.

The new route deploys nine international vessels, each with a capacity of 4,000 TEUs, operating on a weekly schedule and providing faster shipping services.

This route is expected to bring an estimated monthly throughput of around 10,000 TEUs to the Ningbo Zhoushan Port.
