Dinghai district in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province held a series of folk custom activities to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday on Sept 29.
More than 100 folk artists performed folk art forms including the Zhoushan luogu (gongs and drums), a national intangible cultural heritage, lion dances, and puppet shows.
Xu Zhonghua, a 77-year-old photographer, said that he was glad to see the performances, as they bring back childhood memories.

Xu added that the activities are playing a significant role in protecting traditional folk arts and getting more kids and young people to learn more about their origins, development and evolution.
The activities were also broadcast live through online platforms to teach more people about Dinghai's unique history and maritime culture.
