Seven intangible cultural heritage items in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province have been shortlisted as provincial ones, according to a notice by the People's Government of Zhejiang Province on Jan 30.
Here are the seven ICH items, which cover literature, music, sports, arts, tea making techniques, and traditional Chinese medicine.
Folk riddles
Folk riddles, which feature Zhoushan's marine culture and history, were handed down from generation to generation orally in Zhoushan dialects.
Helangdiao
Helangdiao is a song performed at the city's traditional wedding ceremonies that has been popular since the Qing Dynasty (1644-1912).
Dalianxiang
Dalianxiang, a folk dance with a history of more than 300 years, expresses local people's desires for a happy life.
Ship boxing
Ship boxing, which was developed by Zhoushan fishermen, features characteristic scenes of fishing activities.
Papercutting
Shengsi county's papercutting reflects the daily lives of fishermen through vivid depictions of sea stories.
Putuo Buddhist tea-making techniques
Putuo Buddhist tea was recognized as a national geographical indication product in 2020.
Gu's bone injury therapy
The therapy, which has a history of 180 years, excels in treating trauma and rheumatism.
The city is currently home to 45 provincial ICH items and authorities will continue efforts to preserve and use these ICH items properly, said a local official.
