The China Typhoon Museum in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, was recently listed as a national meteorology education base, according to the China Meteorological Administration and the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Located in the Yanwo Mountain scenic area, Daishan county, the China Typhoon Museum is the first typhoon-themed meteorological disaster museum in the country.

The first phase of the museum, which opened in 2003, has an exhibition area of 1,065 square meters and showcases 650 photos, 57 material objects, and 20 model exhibits. The second phase, which opened in 2009, has a 48-seat 4D cinema.

Last year, the museum organized more than 50 online and offline meteorology education activities by cooperating with the Daishan meteorological bureau. These activities were attended by more than 70,000 people.

Moving forward, the museum will promote digitalized construction, expand its collection and seek integrated development between science popularization and tourism.
