The 2020 East China Sea Fishing Festival began on Sept 16 in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, Zhoushan Daily reported.
Fishing season in the East China Sea officially began at 12 o'clock that day. More than 1,680 fishing boats sailed into the sea to catch various types of seafood, including hairtails, butterfish, sea eels, and little yellow croakers.
SF Express Co Ltd, a Chinese delivery company based in Guangdong province, debuted an interisland drone delivery service at the opening ceremony. The service allows companies and local residents to have things delivered by drone for no additional charge.
In addition, the Engineering Research Center of Shanghai Ocean University established its Zhoushan branch at the opening ceremony.
Furthermore, Zhoushan municipal commerce bureau signed cooperation agreements with e-commerce platform Taobao.com and short-video app Kuaishou to promote aquatic products in Zhoushan through livestreams.
From September to October, 10 different activities will be held to boost the high-quality development of the fishing industry in Zhoushan. The projects will include investment promotions, exhibitions of aquatic products, and live broadcasts.
The festival is sponsored by the Zhoushan municipal government and organized by the Zhoushan municipal bureaus of commerce, ocean, and fishing, as well as other institutions.
