Impression of Zhoushan

Updated : 2019-07-16 (chinadaily.com.cn)

I was born in Zhoushan and grew up in Zhoushan. Zhoushan is my hometown.

From the age of 18, I have been away from home for study and work for more than 10 years. I have got limited chance to go home each year since then. Nowadays, I have been studying overseas and being able to go home for the New Year is my biggest motivation, and my family is looking forward to it.

I used to live in a village and I miss it a lot. I have spent my childhood in the village where I am very familiar with the grasses and trees there. Even if I cover my eyes, I am still able to reach my previous house from the village entrance. At that time, there were not so much homework or extracurricular tutoring and we were able to spend a lot of time with classmates. The most exciting moment was to hang out with friends after school, which also helped me establish a lot of invaluable friendships that will maintain a lifelong time. I left the village for a better learning opportunity and environment in the city. Every time I go back and reopen the gate, my heart is always filled with joy and satisfaction. I am fascinated by the peaceful environment and the beautiful scenery of the village. Countless times have I met the village in my dreams. I often see that, under a bright moonlight, at a small stone table in front of a door, a little girl sits with her grandmother with a big smile on her face, listening to her grandmother telling stories, one after another...

I spent my entire adolescence in the city, which has also been an unforgettable experience in my life. The city life is undoubtedly more convenient in comparison with rural life. People residing in urban areas have better opportunities accessing housing, transportation, education, employment, and health care. On the other hand, city life is often characterized by fast pace and pressure. I appreciate the convenience and opportunities of living in the city, and I also enjoy the peaceful moments away from the bustle and hustle of the city. The first place that comes into my mind is a river that I call it Hucheng River near the community I used to live in. The river cools the city down and its surrounding has been a marvelous destination for the residents to entertain and relax. I still remember the time I was walking or jogging along the river to refresh my mind and get my body relaxed after a variety of study assignments and tasks. I particularly enjoy the time I spent with my family when walking and talking on the bank of the river after dinner in summer times…
