Island conjures an escape from rat race, a sketch of paradise, and a perfect sand patch to feel breeze, to witness serene blue sea and relax under rustling palms. It captivates connoisseurs with blossoming breath of fresh air, coral kingdoms and crystalline clarity. Some islands feature velvety green hills while others enchant its visitors through cultural jewels. With their exotic cultures, sublimes beaches and stunning landscapes, islands will take you away from workaday clamor and you will find yourself close to creature's comfort. 

Here I will share my wonderful life experience in Zhoushan Island. I am Ha Ha, PhD Marine Scholar in Ocean College Zhejiang University. I have witnessed an influx of tourists in Zhoushan during my stay of around 2 years. Zhoushan Island has a unique history, which can be found in its historic landmarks. I have visited several places including Mount Putuo, Nandong Art Valley, Tea Valley, Da Qing Shan, Zhujiajian, Liuheng, Moon Bay Scenic Area and Nansha Beach etc.

It has been a daunting challenge and exciting endeavor for me to visit these places. Sometimes I have been facing transport issues and Chinese language has been another hurdle but hospitality and the helpful nature of Zhoushan folks is worth mentioning. Sometimes, I feel like a celebrity around here as Chinese kids want to take pictures with me. 

I was so enthusiastic to immerse myself in Zhoushan. Before coming to Zhoushan, I was not fully prepared about what this city is going to offer and I had no proper awareness, climate understanding and city knowledge. After spending almost two years here, now I can find Zhoushan is providing a collaborative approach to communication, globalization, education, and resource stewardship along with its natural beauty and delicious sea food. Through Zhoushan government's planning, marine researchers, volunteers and community members have built a synergy that helps to make it a more integrated visitor experience. To me, Zhoushan is famous due to its distinctive natural, cultural, ethical and recreational values. Special sea food is an important rationale for national recognition of this site. Zhoushan can develop new strategies to attract and retain new volunteers to help address changing visitor expectations.

I am always spellbound by its fast growing development. I have seen many new infrastructures including bridges, buildings and parks which were not on the map once I landed first time in Zhoushan two years ago. I hope the government will take steps to preserve its natural beauty and ecosystem along with this speedy development.
