The largest ever bunkering tanker in Zhoushan was successfully launched in Liuheng Town, Putuo district, Zhoushan city, on Sept 11, after nearly a year of careful construction, local media reported.
The tanker, named Ruiyun 9, was built by the Zhejiang Dongpeng Ship Building and Repairing Co, and is the third vessel launched by the company this year.
Ruiyun 9 stretches 119.8 meters long, 17.4 meters wide and 8.6 meters deep, with a capacity of 8,000 metric tons, and the construction cost is over 50 million yuan ($7.31 million).
In addition to traveling at a fast speed, the tanker is also equipped with four rubber anti-collision devices, each weighing 5 tons, so that the refueling of both the tanker and the vessel won't easily collide during the bunkering, even in storms, according to a person in charge of the ship building at the company.
