The county-level city of Longgang – administered by Wenzhou in East China's Zhejiang province – sits at the intersection of the Yangtze River Delta and the West Straits Economic Zone. It borders Pingyang county in the north and Cangnan county in the south.

Longgang was established as a town in October 1983 and was upgraded into a county-level city in August 2019 with the approval of the State Council – China's Cabinet – becoming the first county-level city upgraded from a town in the country.

Covering 183.99 square kilometers, the city administers 102 communities and had a permanent resident population of 383,300 in 2022. With a subtropical maritime monsoon climate, it is warm in winter and cool in summer. The annual average temperature is 17.9 C.

Located at the coast of East China Sea, Longgang has abundant seafood resources – especially groupers, crabs and little yellow croakers.

In 2022, the regional GDP of Longgang was 30.014 billion yuan ($4.36 billion) and the fiscal revenue reached 3.169 billion yuan.
