Taishun in Wenzhou, East China's Zhejiang province is well known for the hundreds of gallery bridges dotting the mountainous county.
In this video, Ergashev Akmal, a Tajikistani doctoral student at Wenzhou Medical University, will focus on the story of Taishun locals working to repair three heritage bridges which were once destroyed by a flood in 2016.
The three bridges, namely Wenxing, Wenchong and Xuezhai, have long been regarded by Taishun residents as precious cultural heritages. Locals could not wait for the flood to recede, after which they voluntarily gathered and to repair the bridges' wooden structures.
The Taishun government has also rolled out China's first regulation on the protection and conservation of gallery bridges. An online supervision platform was also launched to further strengthen the protection efforts.
