Lamia, a Moroccan anchor of the Wenzhou Overseas Media Center, recently enjoyed a retreat in a small fishing village in Dongtou, a coastal district of Wenzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, which is best known for its various islets.
Lamia found a relaxing balance between her mind and body at a local rural homestay – a stone house decorated with simple but elegant elements.
"I'm enchanted by the sky, clouds, sea waves, and sunshine in Dongtou. It invigorates me," Lamia said.
There are currently 558 rural homestays in Dongtou, mainly located in Bei'ao and Dongping sub-districts. The houses are built in a variety of styles, including homestay clusters located in the mountains, villa-type single family houses, and stone houses decorated with "tiger" patterns.
The beautiful mountain and seaside scenery and comfortable living environment of homestays in Dongtou have made it a popular tourist destination on Chinese social media platforms and especially among younger generations.
