A community that invites youth scientists, entrepreneurs, investors and artists from across the world to participate in multi-level and cross-disciplinary scientific and cultural exchanges and cooperation was unveiled in Wenzhou, Zhejiang province on Nov 13.

Named after Pi the circular constant to bring out the spirit of infinite possibilities, power and hope, the community will focus on fields including life sciences, bio-safety, climate change, clean energy, and future technology, and aim to contribute to the shared future for mankind, according to Wang Meng, the founder of the community.

Located on Qidu Island, the community was inaugurated during the 2021 World Youth Scientist Summit, which kicked off in Wenzhou the same day. Qidu Island has been designated by the local government as a scientific and technological island with an international outlook and a futuristic style.

The island will become home to an academic center for global youth scientists as well as a number of service platforms, such as a headquarters park for high-tech enterprises in the Yangtze River Delta region, an international fin-tech center, and a service center for intelligent manufacturing industrialization. Over 30 academicians from home and abroad are currently working on the island.
