The agriculture and rural affairs bureaus of Wenzhou city and its subordinate Yueqing and Longgang were recently designated by the Zhejiang provincial government as pilot cities that would seek common prosperity in rural areas through high-quality development, local media outlets reported.

Wenzhou will focus on the construction of future rural areas and has set specific goals, which included rolling out an overall plan and piloting the construction of 25 villages in 2021. The city will also strive to become a national model in 2023 and build 100 such villages in 2025.

Yueqing will focus on strengthening the profit chains connecting social capital, village collectives, and farmers. It will on one hand highlight quality lifestyles, while on the other strive for digital transformation so as to create an efficient climate for agricultural production and a livable and prosperous environment for local residents.

Longgang will take three years to improve its housing rules and regulations with the aim of enhancing rural residents' basic housing needs and quality of life.
