Amber Valley played an important role in England's industrial revolution. The cotton spinning industry in the city was famous in that the first cotton mill in the world was seated there, a fact recognized as a world cultural heritage. Fujinomiya is located in central Shizuoka prefecture, Japan. It has an area of 389 square kilometers and had a population of 132,000 in 2017. Fujinomiya is an industrial center within Shizuoka prefecture, traditionally with an emphasis on the paper industry. Other manufacturing industries include rotating equipment, chemicals and pharmaceuticals.

By virtue of Mount Fuji and traffic arteries along the Pacific coast, Fujinomiya is a renowned sightseeing city in Japan, attracting five million travelers annually.
